FarmTop is an innovative urban farming initiative that converts underutilized rooftops and elevated areas into productive hydroponic farms across Metro Manila. Designed to promote sustainability and local food security, each facility demonstrates how architecture and technology can redefine the urban landscape by introducing green, functional spaces within dense city environments. As FarmTop’s construction partner, VCDC has completed multiple sites across the metro, including installations at State Center II Building in Mandaluyong City, Robinsons Cyber Sigma in Taguig, and Sierra Valley Gardens in Taytay, Rizal. Each hydroponic farm is constructed using lightweight steel framing, mesh, and screening systems that create controlled environments ideal for plant cultivation. Integrated utility systems support irrigation, drainage, and climate management to ensure consistent and sustainable crop production. Beyond their technical efficiency, these rooftop farms contribute to the social and environmental fabric of the city by providing livelihood opportunities for local farmers and communities. The project reflects VCDC’s capability to merge functionality, innovation, and social purpose—transforming otherwise idle roof decks into productive spaces that embody sustainable urban living.
